Impact of technological pre-production measures on the quality of PCM items

The set of issues connected to technological preparatory work for the production of polymer composite material (PCM) items is discussed. It is shown that inadequate attention to pre-production measures leads to the quality fall-off of resulting products.

    Peculiarities of production of three-layer honeycomb panels with polymer filler of hot curing

    The peculiarities of production technology of three-layer honeycomb panels with polymer sphere-plastic hot-cured filler VPZ-15 are analyzed. The application advantages of hot-cured fillers in production of interior airplane panels are shown.

      Production of airframe structural members from MPCM and formation reculiarities

      The production of structural elements from metal polymer composite materials (MPCM) by deformation methods applied to aluminum alloy sheets using the available industrial equipment is developed. Under the assumed limited deformations up to 2-3%, it is possible to produce the elements of complex geometry by the separate method from the sheet metal deformed using conventional technologies, with the following gluing-and-shaping with prepregs in autoclaves and press machines. In production of skins with overall dimensions higher than those in metallurgic industrial production, jointing technology and production of deformed elements of minor curvature under autoclave pressure are developed, when skin is produced of narrow metal layers, and junctions are overlapped with splice pads and prepregs. The corrosion-fatigue tests were done on flat walls with MPCM flanging, as well as the fatigue tests of skins with double curvature which showed the advantage of elements from MPCM.

        Research of properties of three-layer panels on FRP-520G modified binder

        The properties of three-layer honeycomb panels on FPR-520G modified binder were analyzed. It shows the influence of modified binder on the increase of panels' strength properties and the fire hazard decrease when used in airplane passenger interiors.

          Research on anti-adhesive coatings at shaping of interior panels with gel-coated layer

          The anti-adhesive coatings, used for the forming surface protection of the glue-pressed tooling at the production of items from polymer composites are described. The evaluation of lasting properties of anti-adhesive coatings was done and an ability to apply them onto produced items was examined, the coating for the production of panels with gel-coated layer was chosen.

            Ultrasound method research of structural changes in polymer composite materials in their formation process

            The work examines the possibility of using the ultrasound method for controlling PCM formation processes. The method is based on the changes in parameters of ultrasound impulses transpiercing the formed material. IPF-2003 laboratory installation, that was developed and produced, allows executing research on the viscosity of binders in PCMs during the technological formation process. The research considers the formation processes of carbon- and glass-fiber plastics. The form of ultrasonic decay curves allows registering the points of minimum viscosity and gelatinization of polymer binders, as well as the polymerization degree. The use of the installation showed its high efficiency at processing of PCM formation modes.

              Method and installation for determining prepreg adhesiveness

              A method and a laboratory installation for determining prepreg adhesiveness were described. The installation allows researching prepreg adhesiveness based on diverse polymer binders in a wide temperature range. Research results analyze the adhesiveness of prepregs from glass-fiber fabrics, carbon-fiber tapes, and organic fabrics on EDT-69N, FPR-520, BSO-200, 5-211B binders in the temperature range from 22°C to 60°C.
