Phase composition of the Pr-Dy-Fe-Co-B sintered materials

The materials of the Pr-Dy-Fe-Co-B system are used for production of ring magnet with radial texture. Dynamically tuned gyroscopes (DTG) and accelerometers are the major appliances for inertial navigation that include the magnets. The optimal design of the magnet for dynamically tuned gyroscopes (DTG) is a ring magnet with radial texture (RMRT). The phase composition of Pr-Dy-Fe-Co-B sintered materials is studied. The average composition of RF4B, RF3B2 phases for (Pr1-xDyx)12-17(Fe1-yCoy)restB6 (x=0,08-0,73; y=0,15-0,50) sintered materials is: Pr0,4Dy0,6)(Fe, Co)4B, (Pr0,4Dy0,6)(Fe, Co)3B2. The Dy content in the RF3 phase does not depend on Co amount in the material but is determined by the presence of RF4B, RF3B2 phases. The Dy content in the RF3 phase depends on Dy amount in the material. The Dy content in RF2 and RF2B2 phases does not exceed 0,26-0,27 at. shares and weakly depends on the Dy amount in the material. The Dy content in phase A is always higher in the center of the grain.

    Influence of Cu content to phase structure and magnetic properties of thermostable sintered magnets of Nd-Dy-Fe-Co-B and Pr-Dy-Fe-Co-B systems

    Influence of copper and boron on magnetic properties and temperature coefficient of induction of (Nd0,6Dy0,4)16(Fe0,74Co0,26)balTi1CuxBz (x=0,9-2,7; z=4,4-8,3) permanent magnets alloy and influence of copper on properties of (Pr0,52Dy0,48)13(Fe0,65Co0,35)balCuxB6,7 (x=0-10) alloy are investigated. The chemical composition change of the studied alloys phases depending on the content of copper (and boron) and also the phase composition of materials and its influence on magnetic properties is determined by means of the qualitative and quantitative microx-ray spectral analysis. The mechanism of copper influence on temperature coefficient of induction for studied materials is determined. The optimal temperature of sintering for Nd-Dy-Fe-Co-B and Pr-Dy-Fe-Co-B alloys in dependence on the copper content is found. Influence of additional heat treatments on the coercive force of Nd-Dy-Fe-Co-B alloys with different content of alloying components is investigated.

      The effect of aluminum on the magnetic properties of sintered materials Nd-Fe-Co-B

      Dynamically adjustable gyroscopes (DAG) are used in navigation systems and its main part is the ring magnets with radial texture (RMRT). For this type of magnets, the main characteristic, which determines the accuracy and reliability of the navigation device, is the temperature coefficient of induction (TCI). The effect of alloying by Al on the coercive force and TCI of magnets of Nd-Dy-Fe-Co-B system is studied in the article. According to the results of research of sintered materials Nd15,5(Fe0,66Co0,34)resAlxB8 (x=1,4-8,4) the effect of alloying by Al on the temperature coefficient of induction (TCI) and the residual induction (Br) of material Nd-Fe-Co-B is negative. TCI (in absolute value) increases monotonically with increasing concentration of Al, and the residual induction decreases. The coercive force with increasing Al content up to 6% at. increases and becomes saturated and after annealing at 1000ºC decreases. It has been established that such materials have no practical value. Thus, when creating magnets based on Nd-(Fe, Co)-B not only alloying by aluminum should be excluded, but it is necessary to achieve its minimum amounts as impurities in the melting alloys.

        Properties dependence of the Nd-Dy-Fe-Co-B sintered materials on technological parameters

        The materials of the Nd-Dy-Fe-Co-B system are used for production of ring magnet with radial texture. The main technological parameters of manufacturing materials on the basis of the Nd-Fe-B system are considered. The dependence of the major properties of the Nd-Dy-Fe-Co-В system materials on manufacturing technology parameters are considered. It is shown that the coercive force decreases monotonically as time of grinding (τ) increases, the dependence of the coercive force from the sintering temperature is high, large amount of Co increases the resistance of the powder to oxidation in air.

          Influence mechanisms of boron content and heat treatment on the properties of Nd-Fe-Al-Ti-B magnets

          The magnetic properties of the sintered Nd-Fe-Al-Ti-B magnets heat treated in different modes with different contents of titanium and boron are investigated. The coercive force dependence on the boron content in the magnet material after sintering has extremum character. The value and position of the maximum depends on the content of Ti and B in the material which is associated with formation of boron-containing phases of Ti-B. The irreversible losses of magnetization as a function of temperature and heat treatment modes are measured. Low-temperature treatment makes the largest contribution to the value of the coercive force and the thermal stability of the Nd-Fe-Al-Ti-B sintered magnets due to the presence of Nd-rich phase and its redistribution, thereby the grain boundaries smoothing and reduction of the local demagnetizing fields centers take place.

            Express method of certification of the temporal stability of (NdDySm)(FeCo)B magnets

            New method of the rapid certification of the temporal stability of magnets in remagnetizing magnetic field is proposed. The temporal dependencies of the magnetic susceptibility of sintered magnets (NdDySm)(FeCo)B were measured within a wide interval of temperatures and values of magnetic fields which were straightened in semi-logarithmic coordinates. The temperature and polar dependencies of the magnetic viscosity were investigated. It has been revealed that the type of these dependencies is determined by the way of shifting of domain walls under strong pinning. The value of the threshold of magnetic field at which detachment of a domain wall from a defect is occurred, is estimated to be ~48 кE in the absence of thermal activation. The work of single depinning is determined to be ~33·10-12 erg.

              Comparison of the temperature stability of SmCo and PrDy-FeCo-B magnets

              The comparison of the temperature dependencies of the magnetic susceptibility of SmCo and PrDy-FeCo-B alloys and variations of magnetic hysteresis parameters with the temperature within the range of operating of magnets from - 80°С up to+80°С was made. It has been established that PrDy-FeCo-B alloys have higher temperature stability and lesser variations of hysteresis parameters.

                Spin-flop transition in (NdSmDy)(FeCo)B alloy revealed in the alternating field

                The shift of the spin-flop transition towards higher temperatures with increasing in Sm concentration in (Nd1-x-ySmxDyy)(FeCo)B alloy was revealed. Increase in Dy concentration causes the decrease of the temperature of transition because the contributions of Sm and Dy ions to the magnetic anisotropy of the crystal lattice are of opposite signs. The new method of revealing of the spin-flop transitions and quantitative estimation of their temperatures as well as the method of determining sufficient concentrations of rare-earth metals by means of measurement of the real and imaginary parts of the magnetic susceptibility in the alternating magnetic field have been developed.

                  Discrete demagnetization of (SmNdDy)(FeCo)B alloys

                  The temporal stability of (SmNdDy)(FeCo)B alloys was investigated. The bounds of demagnetization in the temporal dependencies of relaxation of the magnetic susceptibility in reverse permanent magnetic field with values less than the coercivity, were revealed. Exploitation of the investigated alloys requires high temporal stability in the frame of which the presence of the bounds of the magnetic susceptibility is inadmissible. The measures of homogenizing of the spatial remagnetization of alloys have been proposed to eliminate these bounds.
