Development and research of multilayered combnation heat-resistant ion-plasma coatings for rhenium alloyed nickel superalloys

Results of researches on ion-plasma heat-resistant coatings for nickel superalloys VJM1-VI, JS55 and JS36 are presented. It is shown, that multilayered ion-plasma coatings of МеС+(Ni-Cr-Al-Y-Ta)+(Al-Ni-Cr-Y) system can be used for the protection of rhenium-containing superalloys against high-temperature oxidation. The heat-resistant barrier composite layers containing metal carbides, in particular chromium carbide, reduce the intensity of the secondary reaction zone formation and limit its depth, therefore allowing to increase the heat-resistance of superalloys at the temperature of 1100°С on the experimental base of 500 h, preserving the stress-rupture properties of JS36, JS55, and VJM1-VI alloys at the temperature of 1000°С on the basis of 100 h.

    Surface protection of internal chambers of single-crystal blades of GTE turbine of advanced carbon-free superalloys

    The following problem is considered: the surface protection of internal cavities of cooled turbine blades of the carbon-free nickel superalloys containing refractory elements such as rhenium, tungsten, tantalum, chromium. It is shown, that the carbon saturation of the surface of the internal cavities of the blades before the aluminizing or chrome-aluminizing stages promotes formation of the typical transitional-diffusion zone under the aluminide coating containing refractory metal carbides, included in the alloy composition. The transition zone based on β(NiAl), γ'(Ni3Al) and (Cr23C6, Cr7C3) NbC, TiC) carbides prevents the diffusion of the coating elements into the heat-resistant alloy and the formation of the secondary reaction zone (SRZ) under the aluminized layer consisting of the brittle topologically close-packed phases, which causes the significant operating life increase of the GTE turbine blades

      Ion surface treatment of titanium alloys

      Presented here are the main achievements in the field of ion surface treatment and modification of heat-resistant pseudo-α- and (α+β)-titanium alloys, as well as the results of the research on the new technological processes, that may be recommended for production and overhaul of the compressor blades and other gas-turbine engine parts. The results of researches and experiments on the new prospective processes of ionic surface treatment and modification of titanium alloys (VT8M-1, VT9, VT20, VT18U) in pure metals plasma, binary systems and nickel-, aluminium-, titanium- and zirconium- based alloys are presented. The presented results may be used for the operating life increase in existing and prospective compressor blades and other GTE componento of titanium alloys, including new intermetallic titanium alloys for operation in the 450-600°С temperature range.

        Erosion- and corrosion-resistant ion-plasma coatings for protection of VT8M-1 titanium alloy. .

        Presented are the results of researches on the development of the erosion- and heat-resistant protecting coatings applied with the methods of vacuum plasma high energy technology and plasma-chemical synthesis technology. Coatings are intended for the environmental protection of titanium compressor blades of the gas turbine engine in all-climatic conditions. According to the results of the conducted metallographic, micro X-ray, and X-ray diffraction researches and experiments, it is concluded that multilayered coatings ensure the protection of VT8M-1 titanium alloy retaining the mechanical properties in common climatic and all-climatic conditions at the temperature of 450°С with the short-term overtemperature periods in the range of 500-600°С. Multilayered ion-plasma erosion- and corrosion-resistant new generation coatings allow to increase the operating life of titanium compressor blades of the gas turbine engines operated in all-climatic conditions with the workable airplane take-off and landing on natural-ground runways of an airfield.

          Combined ion-plasma coating for increase in perfomance characteristics of EP866-SH steel in 450-650°С temperature range

          Presented are the results of researches on the combined ion-plasma coating applied to the EP866-SH steel in the 450-650°С temperature range in various climatic conditions. According to the results of the conducted complex of researches and experiments, it is concluded that SDP-1+VSDP-20 coating has the properties of heat- and corrosion-resistance in the 450-650°С temperature range under the operating conditions of compressor blades, and it was industrially tested on steel compressor blades of the gas turbine engine.
